The City of Sydney has recently implemented iBeacons in Hyde Park south, to trial the potential of this technology as a way of storytelling. The beacons have been installed around the ‘Yininmadyemi – Thou didst let fall’ which is an amazing sculpture by Aboriginal artist, Tony Albert.
This project was made possible by City of Sydney working closely with Meld Strategies, Brandculture, Beaconmaker and the Culture Walks App development team ‘We Make Apps’.
Beaconmaker’s involvement in this project is to define the user experience of how beacon notifications are received and actioned on the user’s device. This project utilised learnings from our work with Sydney Opera House and the Australian Museum. After the trial period there will be time set aside for us to revisit the experience and iterate towards a better outcome.
